On-board tour of Dayang Yihao for members of the public today (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) will proceed as scheduled. Please check the ticket time printed on the ticket and arrive on time.

Those holding yesterday's (Friday's) on-board tour tickets can tour the vessel anytime tomorrow (Sunday) between 9 am to 12 noon or between 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm. Each tour last about 45 minutes.

Dayang Yihao is the only open-ocean going vessel designated and equipped for deep-sea research in China. The major goal is to search for new deep-sea resources and to safeguard China’s right to utilization of marine resources.

Equipped with the most advanced global positioning and communication systems plus scientific research equipment on board, (e.g. an autonomous underwater vehicle that operates deep in the sea) the vessel conducts deep-sea sampling, drilling and videotaping at water depths of over a few thousand meters.

The research projects, conducted by over 40 top marine scientists on board, are all “National Projects” funded by the State Council. After circumnavigating the globe for deep-sea research, the vessel is currently in the Indian Ocean where they have made China’s first-ever discovery of an active hydrothermal vent area. On its way back to the base in Qingdao, the vessel will stop-over in Hong Kong for a most welcome visit.

A chance in a life time! The vessel is going to share with Hong Kong public the latest scientific discovery and most cutting-edge equipment for deep-sea research. Over 40 top marine scientists will meet the public face-to-face to share their experiences in deep-sea research.
